Several Nigerian youth groups say they plan to take a more active role in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. This, as the infection rates among young people in rural Nigeria continues to rise.
Health ministry officials say about fifty thousand youths are believed infected every week. Experts emphasize the need for more targeted HIV/ AIDS information programs for young people.
Among those spearheading such efforts is the group, Youths With Positive Minds -- a non-governmental organization located in the southeastern Nigerian city, Owerri. Its chairman, Ebere Macdonald Kelechi described his group’s activities to English to Africa reporter, Chinedu Offor.
