The draw for the men's and women's soccer competitions at the Eighth All Africa Games will be held in Nigeria's political capital, Abuja, on June fifth.
Women's football will be making its debut at the All Africa Games, which will be staged from October 4-18 in Abuja. The eight-team women's soccer tourney is expected to be played at the full international level. Women's teams from Algeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and South Africa will join the reigning African champion, "The Super Falcons" of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the men's tournament will also feature eight teams, but it will be played at the under-age-23 level. Host Nigeria will be joined by Algeria, Senegal, Ghana, Egypt, Zambia, South Africa and the defending All Africa Games champion, Cameroon.
The All Africa Games finals in soccer will be played at the new 60,000-seat national stadium in Abuja. Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo officially opened the stadium April 8.
