Helicopter Crash Kills 2 US Soldiers in Kosovo - 2003-06-08

A helicopter crash has killed two U.S. peacekeeping soliders in Kosovo.

American military officials in the U.N.-administered Serbian province said the soliders died Sunday when their AH-64 Apache helicopter went down for reasons that are not known. They said the cause of the crash is being investigated and that foul play is not suspected.

The soldiers were based at the largest U.S. military installation in the region, Camp Bondsteel, about 40 kilometers east of the provincial capital, Pristina.

Albanian-dominated Kosovo has been controlled by United Nations peacekeepers since 1999.
