Roddick Advances to Wimbledon Men's Semifinals - 2003-07-03

update

In the men's quarterfinals, American Andy Roddick scored a straight-set win over Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. He takes on fourth seeded Roger Federer of Switzerland, a straight-set winner over Dutchman Sjeng Schalken 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, in the semifinals, Saturday.

The home fans were disappointed when Tim Henman, the last British player in the draw, lost to Sebastien Grosjean of France in four sets in a match continued from Wednesday because of rain and darkness, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Grosjean will take on Australia's Mark Philippoussis, who completed a five-set win over German Alexander Popp in a match carried over from Wednesday because of rain and darkness. They began the day at 2-all in the fifth set and Philippoussis ended up winning that deciding set, 8-6. The final score: 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 8-6.
