U.S. officials say President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will attend a concert by the Iraq National Symphony Orchestra Tuesday.
Officials say the concert will take place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. Secretary of State Colin Powell will co-host the event with Kennedy Center president Michael Kaiser.
The Iraqi orchestra will perform alongside Washington's National Symphony Orchestra. National Symphony music director Leonard Slatkin will share conducting duties with Mohammed Amin Ezzat, conductor of the Iraq Natioanl Symphony. World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma will be a featured soloist.
The State Department says the Iraqi musicians will hold a free educational event for Washington-area school children the next day. Members also are scheduled to attend workshops on orchestra management while in Washington.
