A passenger plane has crashed in the fog as it approached the airport at Uzbekistan's capital of Tashkent, and the Itar-Tass news agency reports all 37 people on board are dead.
Early reports describe the plane as a Soviet-built Yak-40 passenger jet.
Local news reports say the plane belonged to the national air carrier, Uzbekistan Airlines. The reports say the plane had departed the Uzbek city of Termez, near the Afghan border, and was attempting to land at Tashkent in the fog.
The reports say senior government officials went to the accident site. The aircraft normally carries up to 32 passengers and a crew of five. The plane is frequently used to link far-flung cities in the former Soviet republics.
