Three-time International Football Federation player of the year Ronaldo has agreed to a contract that will keep him playing for the Spanish club Real Madrid through 2008.
Ronaldo, 27, who moved to Real from Inter Milan for $56 million in 2002, extended his current contract with the Spanish giant for two years.
The striker is Real's leading scorer with 22 goals so far this season, making him the top scorer in Spain's Primera Liga. He scored 23 goals total last season. The Spanish Club also is on top of the League with an eight point lead.
He is one of five other Real Madrid players to have signed contracts this year including striker Raul Gonzalez, Michel Salgado and midfielder Zinedine Zidane - also a three time world player of the year.
In 2002, Ronaldo helped Brazil win its fifth World Cup while scoring two goals in the final.
