4 Dead After Tornadoes Strike Illinois - 2004-04-21


Officials in Illinois say a severe storm spawned tornados that left four people dead and damaged several buildings late Tuesday.

Illinois officials say the deaths occurred in the in the north central town of Utica, southwest of Chicago. They say the victims were killed when a building collapsed around them.

Police and emergency workers say dozens of homes and other buildings in Utica a town of between one and two-thousand residents - were destroyed in storm.

Weather officials report the same storm system also spawned tornados as it moved east through Indiana.
