Mexican Female Football Player Joins Professional Men's Team

update

A forward on the Mexican women's national football team has become the first woman to join a professional men's team in Mexico.

Maribel Dominguez says she has signed a contract with Celaya, a top team in Mexico's second-highest professional league. Celaya's vice president has confirmed the signing.

Dominguez played one season with the Atlanta Beat of the now defunct U.S. Women's United Soccer Association. She also scored Mexico's only goal in women's football in the 2004 Summer Olympics.
