Mexican Police Official Arrested In Drug Slaying Probe

Mexican authorities have arrested a top police official in connection with the drug-linked murder of nine people in the resort city of Cancun.

Felipe de Jesus Arguelles, Cancun's public security director, was among suspects flown to Mexico City late Wednesday for questioning.

Mexican security forces searched the federal prosecutor's office in Cancun Wednesday and questioned its staff.

Mexico's drug and organized crime prosecutor, Jose Luis Santiago Vasconcelos, said federal employees are under suspicion of involvement in the killings.

Nine people, including three federal agents, were found shot dead last week. Officials said the execution-style killings could be signs of a turf war between rival drug traffickers near Cancun.
