During the first presidential debate between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump, the candidates tangle over trade and the economy. At times, moderator Lester Holt allows the candidates to speak over each other and go beyond their two-minute time limits.

Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump walk out, and Clinton can be heard saying, "How are you, Donald?"

First questions is about achieving prosperity in America.

Hillary Clinton answers first: She says we need to understand what kind of country we want to be and what kind of future do we want to build.

Mentions her 2-year-old granddaughter.

Donald Trump begins his response to the question, saying our jobs are fleeing our country. He says nobody in government is stopping that. "We're losing our good jobs."

Trump says thousands of jobs are leaving the country.

He does mention that he and Clinton agree on child-care.
