A late winter storm called Stella brought blizzard conditions to parts of the U.S. northeast affecting some 50-million people. Snow accumulations of up to 60-centimeters with winds in excess of 100-kilometers per hour were expected to affect residents from Philadelphia north to Maine producing hazardous driving conditions and poor visibility. Thousands of flights were canceled. Many school districts closed.
