A Somali girl cries at the scene where her mother died as a result of a blast while sweeping a section of Taleh street in Mogadishu, August 3, 2014.

Somali officials say a bomb blast in the capital has killed three women and wounded at least seven other people.

Authorities say the victims are municipal street cleaners who were working when the bomb exploded in a pile of trash Sunday in Mogadishu's Hodon district.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.

Al-Shabab Islamist insurgents have recently escalated their attacks on the Somali capital.
