Rights Advocates, Pioneers Honored by Presidential Medals

Even as the United States continues to struggle with civil rights and racial equality, several civil rights pioneers were honored with the highest U.S. civilian awards on Monday. President Barack Obama presented Medals of Freedom to 19 civilians who have made significant contributions to make the United States a more just, secure and culturally diverse country.
