Muslim Majority City Council Begins Work in Detroit Suburb

For more than a century, the Detroit suburb of Hamtramck, Michigan was home to many Polish Catholic immigrants and their descendants. The town prospered when the auto industry flourished, but its fortunes, and ethnic makeup, dramatically changed in over the past several decades. As VOA’s Kane Farabaugh reports from Hamtramck, the town made international headlines when it elected a majority of Muslim Americans to the City Council in November.
