Sleep deprivation has been linked with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and even death from coronary heart disease. A study in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine suggests a possible cause. After monitoring 300 volunteer participants for two-days, the study authors found that those who were sleep deprived had spikes in their blood pressure, both during their night of poor sleep and during the following day.
