The current unemployment rate in America is just over 13 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. While new claims for unemployment insurance benefits overall have been declining in recent weeks, and some states have reopened their economies, unemployment remains at record highs, causing hardship especially among African Americans and Hispanics.
