Queen Elizabeth II has become the first British monarch to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary.
The queen and her husband Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, were married in Westminster Abbey 60 years ago, Tuesday.
On Monday about 2,000 people attended a thanksgiving service in their honor at the abbey.
The royal couple is flying to the Mediterranean island of Malta Tuesday. They lived there as a young couple while Prince Philip was stationed on the island as a royal naval officer.
