Nations around the globe are marking World Refugee Day, one day after a humanitarian group reported that the number of refugees continues to climb.
The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants estimates the number of refugees around the world jumped to more than 14 million people in the last year.
The group also reported Thursday that refugees face mistreatment and a lack of aid in dozens of countries.
The report said many of the refugees have fled the Iraq war, roughly two million since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. It says many Iraqi refugees who have settled in Jordan and Syria have been unable to work legally.
It criticized other countries for turning away refugees, including Bangladesh, China, Russia, and Thailand.
The humanitarian group also criticized many European nations for making it difficult for refugees to enter and accused other countries like Kenya of "warehousing" refugees in sprawling camps.
