Afghan Soldier Killed After Firing on NATO Troops

A man wearing an Afghan army uniform opened fire on NATO forces before being killed in a gunfight, in what appears to be another in a series of "insider attacks."

An Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman says the Afghan soldier who shot at NATO troops was killed when coalition forces returned fire.

The spokesman says a NATO serviceman was wounded in the leg during the incident Saturday on the outskirts of the capital, Kabul.

NATO confirmed the incident.

So-called "insider attacks," when Afghan forces turn their guns on their foreign partners, have killed many NATO soldiers in Afghanistan. Such incidents have killed at least 15 foreign personnel this year.
