Former U.S. President George W. Bush has had a stent successfully placed in his heart to clear a blockage in one of his arteries.
Doctors performed the surgical procedure Tuesday after discovering the blockage the day before during the Bush's annual physical exam. The procedure was performed at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where the 67-year-old ex-president lives.
Bush's office said he was in "high spirits," eager to return home Wednesday, and planning to resume his normal schedule on Thursday.
Bush was twice elected to the presidency, serving from 2001 to 2009.
