China Expected to Become Increasingly Authoritarian as Xi Seeks Extension as Leader

China’s Communist Party Congress is expected to hand a third five-year term to CCP’s General Secretary Xi Jinping this month. As State Department Bureau Chief Nike Ching reports, some experts say Xi is expected to lead China toward an even more authoritarian government, while others predict competition between the U.S. and China will accelerate.
