Drone Strike Kills 3 Suspected Militants in NW Pakistan

North and South Waziristan, Khyber, Pakistan

A suspected U.S. drone strike has killed at least three suspected militants in Pakistan's northwest tribal region.

Security officials say Thursday's strike targeted a vehicle travelling in North Waziristan.

At least three people were killed and one wounded in the strike. The identities of those killed were not released.

U.S. drone attacks resumed in June after a pause during the first half of the year, while the Pakistani government tried unsuccessfully to negotiate with the Taliban.

Pakistan's military launched a major anti-militant offensive in June in North Waziristan. The remote region bordering Afghanistan has long been a hideout for militants, including the Taliban and al-Qaida.
