Ecuador Military Plane Crash Kills 22

A military plane carrying 22 people crashed Tuesday in Ecuador's Amazon region, southeast of the capital of Quito.

"There are no survivors. Our embrace of solidarity to the families and the armed forces. It is a tragedy," President Rafael Correa said on Twitter.

Ecuador's army said the 19 parachutists on board the Israeli-made Arava cargo plane were carrying out training exercises when the aircraft crashed.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
