EgyptAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing

FILE - EgyptAir Airbus A320 takes off.

An EgyptAir passenger plane headed to Beijing made an emergency landing in Uzbekistan Wednesday morning.

Egyptian officials have said a false bomb threat caused the plane to land at Urgench International Airport. The plane was evacuated and searched, but no explosives were found.

"The plane is preparing to resume its journey. It was a hoax, thank God," said one of the officials.

Flight MS955 which left from Cairo was carrying 118 passengers and 17 crew members.

EgyptAir flights have received many bomb threats since their plane flying from Paris to Cairo crashed into the Mediterranean last month. All of the threats were false.

Investigators are still working to find out why the Airbus 320 jet vanished from radar May 19th and crashed, killing all 66 people on board.
