African Women Entrepreneurs Struggle to Connect, Thrive

Women make up about half of the world’s population, but studies show that less than one percent of global corporate expenditures go to women-owned businesses. The World Economic Forum notes that the African continent is working to close its gender gap, but still has a long way to go, despite its wealth of women entrepreneurs. But increasingly, large corporate businesses are seeing value in women entrepreneurs, and say that uplifting women-owned businesses has wider social effects. VOA’s Anita Powell reports from Johannesburg.
