EU President Calls For Common Military Force Ahead of Key Summit

In his annual State of the Union speech, the president of the European Union Commission has called for setting up a European headquarters for a common EU military force. Jean-Claude Juncker said Europe’s ‘soft’ power' was no longer sufficient to meet the challenges of the modern world. Junker also expressed regret over Britain’s vote to leave the EU – but said the bloc would survive Brexit. More from Henry Ridgwell in London.
