In the current U.S. Congress, only 1 percent – just six members – are immigrants. That's among the lowest percentage of immigrants serving in Congress in U.S. history, despite an increase in migration here. There is much in the way of becoming the first naturalized Muslim American to serve in Congress. But as we’ll see in this Voice of America program, there are those who are determined to overcome that.
