In Mauritania, 6 Presidential Hopefuls Wrap Up Campaigns

Six presidential candidates held the final events of their campaigns Thursday, as Mauritania prepares to hold its first national elections without an incumbent leader since the 2008 coup. Though many opposition candidates have strong support heading into the June 22 election, some voters are wary that the electoral commission may work in favor of the ruling party candidate.
