Israel says it has shot down a drone that entered Israelia-controlled airspace over the Golan Heights from neighboring Syria.
The Israeli military said the incident Sunday occurred near the Quneitra crossing. Syrian government troops have engaged in heavy fighting in the area with rebels seeking to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Israel says it believes the drone belonged to the Syrian military and had strayed accidentally into Israeli-controlled airspace.
The Israelis said a Patriot missile destroyed the drone.
