When campaigning in Indiana, it’s probably a good idea to have your basketball terminology down pat.
Unfortunately for Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, calling a basketball hoop a “ring” in the basketball-crazed state backfired and was widely mocked on Twitter.
The gaffe happened while Cruz was trying to recreate a scene from the iconic basketball movie “Hoosiers,” which took place in Indiana.
“The amazing thing is, that basketball ring in Indiana, it's the same height as it is New York City and every other place in this country," Cruz said during a rally.
Twitter erupted in mockery.
