Officials in northwestern Pakistan say a bomb planted on a motorcycle has killed at least one soldier and wounded another.

Officials say the bomb was remotely detonated as a security force vehicle passed by.

Authorities say no one has claimed responsibility for the blast Friday in the Mithra area on the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Peshawar is located on the border with Pakistan's semi-autonomous tribal region.

The attack comes as Pakistan's army continues a months-long offensive targeting Taliban and foreign militants in tribal areas.

The Pakistani Taliban has carried out many bombings in Peshawar, targeting security forces and civilians.
