6 Afghan Policemen Killed in Possible Insider Attack

Six Afghan policemen have been found shot dead at their checkpoint in the country's south, raising suspicions they were killed in an insider attack.

Local officials say the six bodies were discovered late Wednesday in the Musa Qala district of Helmand province.

The suspected gunmen escaped, and police have launched a search for a missing vehicle.

Insider attacks, cases where those in Afghan military or police uniforms open fire on their comrades or international allies, have become more frequent. They threaten to undermine the trust between both sides, as coalition troops prepare to hand over control to Afghan security forces.
