6 Killed in Philadelphia Building Collapse

Rescue workers at the scene of a building collapse in Philadelphia, in the U.S. northeastern state of Pennsylvania, that killed six people searched through the night for additional victims.


Combing through bricks and rubble using buckets and their bare hands they pulled a 61-year-old woman from the debris nearly 13 hours after the four-story building fell Wednesday on a neighboring thrift store. The woman, in critical condition, was the 14th survivor rescued from the collapse.

Authorities have not officially ended the search, but say they have no reports of anyone missing.
The vacant building was being demolished to make way for new construction when it fell.
