Kurdish forces are leading the fight against Islamic State militants on the ground in Iraq and Syria. But that prominence worries some U.S. allies, including Turkey, that Kurds may use that momentum to push for an independent Kurdistan that could include parts of Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey.
