Chelsea has joined Arsenal on points at the top of the English Premier League after a 4-1 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Chelsea showed no ill effects from this week's sacking of Romanian striker Adrian Mutu, whom the London club dismissed for failing a drug test. Arsenal, the defending champion, barely salvaged a 2-2 tie with Southampton.
The two London sides are level at 26 points in the Premier League, but Arsenal remains the overall leader on goal differential.
In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich crashed to a 2-0 defeat at 13th-ranked Borussia Moenchengladbach. Leader Wolfsburg retains the top spot after coming back from two goals down to beat Mainz 4-3.
The Spanish First Division only has two matches scheduled on Saturday - including leader Barcelona's game at Athletic Bilbao.
