Golf: Poulter Captures Volvo Masters

Ian Poulter of Britain captured the Volvo Masters golf tournament in Sotogrande, Spain Sunday, beating home-country player Sergio Garcia with a par on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.

Garcia missed a one-meter putt on the final hole of regulation that would have given him the victory. The two men were left tied with seven-under-par totals of 277 after 72 holes. Both shot final rounds of one-under-par 70.

Third-round leader Alastair Forsyth of Britain took a three-shot margin into the final round, but bogeyed the first two holes on the way to a 74. He finished third at 278, one stroke behind Poulter and Garcia.

Peter Hanson of Sweden was fourth after a final round of one-under-par 70.
