Canadian Dana Antal scored a tiebreaking goal early in the third period Sunday in Lake Placid, New York. Antal took a pass from Danielle Goyette 2:20 into the third period and sneaked the puck past U.S. goalie Pam Dreyer.
Canada, which has won seven of the nine Nations Cups, opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Jayna Hefford 7:56 into the first period. The United States tied it with 6 seconds remaining in the period on a power-play goal by Natalie Darwitz.
Earlier Sunday, Erika Holst scored two goals to help give Sweden the bronze medal with a 4-2 victory over Finland.
