Dozens Wounded in Brazil After Drug Lord's Killing

Authorities in Brazil say gang members, angered by the killing of a suspected drug lord, have shot and wounded dozens of people at a local nightclub.

Police say the gunmen began shooting and threw a grenade into the club in Rio de Janeiro's Chatuba shantytown after party-goers refused to stop the music in respect for the drug lord. He was killed minutes earlier during a shoot-out with police.

About 40 people wounded in Sunday's club incident were treated at a local hospital.

Violence has increased in Rio de Janeiro over the past week as police try to rid slum areas of gangs that are fighting for control of drug distribution points.
