Jordanian King Strips Half-Brother of Crown Prince Designation

Jordan's King Abdullah has stripped his half-brother, Prince Hamzeh, of his title of crown prince.

A letter read on Jordanian television said the king took the action to allow Hamzeh to have more freedom of movement.

Hamzeh, who is 24, is the son of American-born Queen Noor, the fourth wife of the late King Hussein.

Abdullah is the son of Hussein and his second wife, the British-born Princess Musa.

King Abdulluh named Hamzeh crown prince hours after their father died in 1999.
