Woods, Furyk, Montgomerie Share Lead at Target World Challenge

update

American golfers Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk have a share of the first round lead with Colin Montgomerie of Scotland at the Target World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, California.

All three players carded a 4-under-par 67 in the first round Thursday. Woods, who is hosting the exhibition tournament, overcame a sluggish start. Furyk was among three players who had the outright lead on the back nine until he fell back on the final hole. Montgomerie had a dramatic eagle (2-under-par) on the 15th hole to lower his score.

But world number one golfer Vijay Singh of Fiji struggled, matching the day's worst score at three-over-par 74. The event features 15 of the best players in golf at the Sherwood Country Club.
