The FBI is investigating at least six incidents where laser beams have been aimed into the cockpits of commercial jets in recent days - an act that can harm the vision of pilots.
Officials say one of the incidents involved a jet that was targeted by a laser beam on approach Monday to an airport in Cleveland, Ohio. The FBI has traced the beam to a nearby residential area.
Some of the other incidents have occurred in Medford, Oregon; Teterboro, New Jersey; and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The pilots were able to land safely in all cases. It is against federal law to intentionally shine a laser beam at a commercial airline flight.
