France Worried About Fate of Missing Journalist

In Paris, French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier says he is worried about the fate of a journalist from the French newspaper Liberation, who disappeared in Baghdad on Wednesday along with her Iraqi translator.

Mr. Barnier told a reporter for the private TV news channel LCI Friday that no one knows what has happened to Florence Aubenas and her interpreter, Hussein Hanoun Al Saadi.

Ms. Aubenas, an experienced foreign correspondent, reportedly arrived in Iraq about three weeks ago. Her disappearance recalled the case of two other French journalists who were held hostage by militants in Iraq for four months last year. After their eventual release, the earlier kidnap victims said Iraq was too dangerous a place for any foreign journalist to visit.
