World number one golfer Vijay Singh of Fiji has a one-shot lead after Thursday's first round of the PGA Tour's Mercedes Championship men's golf tournament in Hawaii.
Singh shot a 7-under-par 66, good for a one-shot lead over Australia's Craig Parry. Spain's Sergio Garcia and Americans Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink and Jonathan Kaye are tied for third, two shots behind Singh.
Defending champion Stuart Appleby of Australia is eight strokes behind Singh.
The tournament, the first of the 2005 PGA Tour season, features only players who won PGA Tour events last year.
