South African Labor Group Turned Back at Zimbabwe Airport

update

Members of a delegation from the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) say they have been denied entry to Zimbabwe as they arrived in the capital, Harare for a fact-finding mission early Wednesday.

The delegation members told reporters they were met at the airport by Zimbabwean officials who turned the group back. The delegation is expected to return to Johannesburg later today.

Zimbabwe's government expelled a similar delegation last October and had warned the COSATU members that they would be deported or jailed.

The labor group said it intended to investigate Zimbabwe's political climate ahead of general elections scheduled for next month.
