update

Colombia has been invited to the Confederation of North Central American and Caribbean football Gold Cup tournament, joining South Africa as a guest team in July.

Colombia will open the tournament July sixth against Group A opponent Panama in Miami, Florida. Trinidad and Tobago will play Honduras in the second match that day.

Defending champion Mexico is in Group C along with Guatemala, Jamaica, and South Africa. Group C will play in Los Angeles and Houston.

Two-time champion and host nation the United States will play in Group B against Costa Rica, Canada, and Cuba. The competition will start in Seattle, Washington and move to Boston, Massachusetts. The tournament semifinals and finals will be played at Giants Stadium outside New York.

Since 1996, five teams from outside the region have played in the tournament. CONCACAF and the South American Federation, CONMEBOL, are the only two governing bodies that invite nations from outside their region to take part in their championship tournaments.
