Football: Manchester United Reaches FA Cup Semi-Finals

English FA Cup titleholders Manchester United cruised to the semi-finals of the tournament on Saturday after an easy 4-0 away win at Southampton.

Paul Scholes netted two scores for the Red Devils, who completed the blowout with goals from Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Arsenal managed a 1-0 win over 10-man Bolton, who lost Senegalese striker El-Hadji Diouf to a red card. An early goal from Freddie Ljungberg allowed the London side to join Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, a title Arsenal last won in 2003.

In Germany, defending champion Werder Bremen lost ground in the Bundesliga title race by managing no better than a scoreless draw at home against lowly Mainz. Werder is third in the standings with 44 points. Bayern Munich and Schalke, which both have 50 points, face each other on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Spanish First Division leader Barcelona leads Atletico Bilbao 2-0 at the half. Second-place Real Madrid plays on Sunday at Getafe.
