Estonian Prime Minister Juhan Parts has officially stepped down.
Mr. Parts resigned during Thursday's government meeting in Tallinn, the Estonian capital, saying he would notify President Arnold Ruutel immediately.
The prime minister made his decision public in a speech to Estonia's parliament Monday, after a majority voted to oust his justice minister over a controversial anti-corruption proposal. He said then that the capacity for cooperation is gone for good.
Mr. Parts' government had been in power since April 2003, presiding over Estonia's entry into both the European Union and NATO.
President Ruutel must choose a successor to form a new government within 14 days.
