A Basque pro-independence party says it will appeal a Spanish court order banning it from regional elections next month.
On Sunday, the group, Aukera Guztiak, said it will contest the Supreme Court order issued a day earlier excluding its candidates from running in Basque parliamentary elections.
The court held that Aukera Guztiak is an attempt by the armed Basque separatist group ETA and the outlawed Batasuna party to circumvent laws that keep them from running for office.
The appeal goes to the Spanish Constitutional Court, which is expected to act by April 1.
ETA is blamed for more than 800 deaths since the late 1960s in its fight for an independent Basque state.
