Henin-Hardenne Reaches Semifinals of J&S Tennis

Former world No. 1 women's tennis players Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters of Belgium have reached the semifinals of the J&S tennis tournament in Warsaw, Poland.

Henin-Hardenne scored a straight-set win over fourth seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland (6-1, 6-2). In the semifinals, the Belgian plays Serbia-Montenegro's Ana Ivanovic, a straight-set winner over Nathalie Dechy of France (7-6, 6-2).

Clijsters the seventh seed, defeated Elena Bovina of Russia (7-6, 6-3). The Belgian player faces U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia in the semifinals. Kuznetsova beat Italian Silvia Farina-Elia in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

The clay-court tournament is one of several events players are using to prepare for the second major tournament of the year, the French Open, which starts May 23 in Paris.
